It does the work while you control its movement and pressure to draw shapes and patterns. Hours of fun, no really. You get three interchangeable shape pattern heads (squares, circles, triangles), and five interchangeable non-toxic ink colors. The 8" long pen runs on one you-provide-it AA battery. Not that you want to carry it in your pocket protector, but it does come w/ a clip holder. The clear cover on the barrel lets you see the internal gears and motor at work.
